The very-well researched collage of black-and-white archive footage was sharply edited with good music as a “silent film”. It is truly a great film. How you see the world depends on you. How a country, culture, land, society were destroyed, and are going to be destroyed by “development” and “liberty”.  This film focused on the colonization by the French, but we can see it as Japanese colonization in W.W.II, what Britain did, what the Khmer Rouge did, what America is doing, what China is doing…It happened and may happen in any nations, any part of the world. History connects one incident to others and repeats. I'd like to watch this film again and again.

"France is Our Mother Country" will be shown in Ebisu,Tokyo Japan on February 18th, 2016. It was shown at Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival in 2015, and it seems well received.

非常によく調査しモノクロのアーカイブ資料を良い音楽とともに鋭敏に編集された「サイレント映画」。素晴らしい良作。世界をどう見るかは、見る側の見方による。いかに国、文化、土地、社会が、「開発」「解放」の名の下に、破壊されていくのか。フランスの植民地支配にフォーカスしてるが、第二次世界大戦時の日本の植民地支配、英国の行ったこと、クメール・ルージュが行ったこと、アメリカが行っていること、中国が行っていること…世界中のどこにでも起こって、どこででも起こりうることを、この作品を通して考えさせられる。何度も繰り返し観たい映画だ。

「フランスは我等が故国」（France is Our Mother Country）は2016年2月18日、東京・恵比寿にて上映される。2015年山形国際ドキュメンタリー映画際で上映され高評価を得ているようだ。
