Together with “Puos Keng Kang”, I watched “Peov Chouk Sor” at 25th Tokyo International Film Festival  (TIFF) in 2012. The director, Mr. Tea Lim Koun, went back to Cambodia to rescue this reel of film in 1975, just before the airport was closed. 

Four celestial maiden sisters come down from heaven, and the youngest sister has to remain on earth and falls in love with a young peasant. Two of the biggest stars of Cambodian cinema, Dy Saveth and Chea Yuthorn were cast. The story was originally created by the director, but it is similar to a familiar fairy tale for the Japanese audience. Some comedians also appeared and I thought they were very good. Since it has also been digitalized like  “Puos Keng Kang”, I hope it is going to be shown in Cambodia someday. 

(Ms. Dy Saveth is still very beautiful and active, and appeared in the film "The Last Reel" in 2014.)

「怪奇ヘビ男」とともに「天女伝説・パウ・チューク・ソー」も第25回東京国際映画祭(TIFF)で鑑賞した。Tea Lim Koun監督はこのフィルムを、1975年、プノンペン国際空港閉鎖直前に国外へ持ち出している。

４人の天女姉妹が天界から舞い降り、そのうちの一番下の妹が下界に止まらざるおえなくなり若く貧しい若者と恋に落ちる。当時のカンボジアの２大スターDy SavethとChea Yuthornがキャスティングされている。オリジナルのストーリではあるが、日本人にもどこか馴染みのある話。個人的には、登場する喜劇役者達もとても良いと思った。デジタル化済み、ということでこの作品もいつかカンボジアで上映されることを期待したい。

（Dy Savethさんは美しくご健在で2014年の映画「the Last Reel」にも出演されている。）
